The incident occurred around 9:20 a.m. on Ludlow Street where the victims had locked themselves in the bathroom, according to police.
Stamford Police surrounded the house, closed the street, and safeguarded the other occupants of the multi-unit residence.
A tactical response team, led by Sgt. Brendan Phillips, entered the building and was able to take the suspect into custody without incident. Officers recovered a facsimile firearm on the scene.
The suspect has been identified as Edgar A. Sanabria-Arevalo of Stamford. He's been charged with threatening in the second degree, interfering with an emergency call, third-degree assault, unlawful restraint, strangulation, possession of a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct. He is being held on a $25,000.00 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Sept. 24.
"The Stamford Police Department is extremely proud by the response of all its officers on this incident," Stamford PD Capt. Diedrich Hohn said. "Domestic violence calls are one of the most dangerous calls that police handle day in and day out.
"We were able to safely remove a domestic abuser from the street and remove a gun as well. Thankfully no one was seriously injured."
